Mauritius' freshwater starts with rain. Some is stored in reservoirs, some flows through rivers and streams, and some seeps into underground aquifers. This dashboard follows that water from rainfall to storage and ultimately to consumption, including how much is lost along the way.

Methodology & sources
- Reservoir levels & capacity
- Statistics Mauritius / Water Resources Unit monthly mean averages, 2000–2025; 2026 uses point-in-time checkpoints, since the year isn't complete. The combined "all 7 reservoirs" figure is capacity-weighted (total stored ÷ total available capacity), not a simple average, and only counts reservoirs already built at that date. Capacity history back to 1885 is WRU's own record of each dam's construction and expansion.

- Mauritius Meteorological Services annual totals.
- Source of water
- WRU freshwater abstraction data for the whole island, every use combined (agriculture, industry and CWA supply) — not tap water alone. Real published figures run 2000–2024; 2025 hasn't appeared in this table yet.
- Water consumption
- Statistics Mauritius' Water Account and annual Energy and Water Statistics reports. Potable water sold by customer group is real data through 2025; 2026 is modelled from the latest published customer-group shares, since the year is still partial and unreported.
- Water leakage
- Water treated minus water sold — a consistent historical proxy for water lost before sale. This can include more than physical leakage alone, but National Audit Office and CWA findings point to leakage from defective pipelines as the largest single cause.
