AI-powered scammers are now targeting your bank account
The Bank of Mauritius has issued a fresh public warning after a sharp rise in digital fraud. Criminals are using artificial intelligence to spoof phone numbers, impersonate banks and regulators, and trick people into handing over their login credentials and one-time passwords.

Most victims hand over their credentials voluntarily after highly convincing contact. "Technology alone is not enough to guarantee total protection," Caunhye said.
Doesn't matter how secure the system is if you hands your OTP to whoever calls claiming to be your bank.

Is anything in your trolley getting cheaper? Not this week. Canned products, pasta, cheese, milk and margarine all took fresh price hikes as Mauritians face another round of increases on staple goods.
