A mother screams the count at the man who killed her daughter
The reconstruction at Les Salines turned raw on Wednesday. Mavin Changia, 29, was walked back to the scene where Prageena Jootun was killed last Friday, under heavy escort from Special Support Unit commandos.
Her mother faced him and shouted that he had stabbed her daughter twenty-one times. The autopsy counted twenty-two wounds. Changia was arrested the same day nearby and confessed, telling police a domestic dispute set off the killing.
Junior agriculture minister Fabrice David, who says he has known the family for years, called the act a barbarity and demanded exemplary justice.
