A stabbing at La Cure kills a 28-year-old as two are held

Gaël Sadal, 28, died on Saturday night after a violent altercation at Robert Scott, Résidence La Cure. An autopsy by Dr Sudesh Kumar Gungadin found he was killed by a knife wound that reached the heart. A second man, 22, was wounded in the same incident, underwent surgery at Dr Jeetoo Hospital, and is now under police guard.

Officers from the DCIU and CID Metro North arrested two suspects on Sunday, a man of 24 and a woman of 47. Both are being questioned. What set off the fight is still unclear, and the accounts given by the wounded man's fiancée and by Sadal's stepson do not line up.

Sadal's body will be repatriated to Rodrigues, where his funeral is to be held. The motive is the gap investigators now have to close, and the two conflicting accounts of that night are where they will have to start.
