Bedbug photos trigger a probe at a home for 57 residents
Images of a severe bedbug infestation at the Foyer Trochetia care home in Pointe-aux-Sables have prompted an official investigation. The home looks after 57 residents, many of them elderly and frail. A junior minister says officials were kept in the dark about how bad conditions had become.
That last claim is the one to watch. A care home does not reach that state overnight, so someone either did not look or chose not to say. The residents cannot lobby, cannot leave, and cannot be the ones left to answer for it.

Negotiator Atma Shanto says some cannot feed their families, and the FTU plans to write to PM Ramgoolam for urgent help. A wage that does not arrive is not a delay. It is a month with no floor under it.
