Activist walks free from the CCID and calls it harassment
Police let activist Raouf Khodabaccus leave the Central Criminal Investigation Department (CCID) on Saturday after questioning him over a complaint of criminal defamation lodged by Infrastructure Minister Ajay Gunness. He invoked his right to silence with his lawyer, Rama Valayden, beside him, while officers searched his home for documents and, he says, came away with nothing.
Khodabaccus calls it the return of 'harassment against opponents', and has asked the President to halt works at his private residence. Gunness says the allegations are grave, false, and now a matter for the police.
Supreme Court tells the MRA it cannot ignore an amended return
The Supreme Court has handed Play on Line Ltd a win over the Mauritius Revenue Authority, ruling that the tax collector could not simply refuse to accept or reject the company's amended return.
