A lost FCC notebook is spilling suspects' names online
One misplaced notebook has become a real problem for the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC), the body that hunts money laundering and fraud. An investigator's diary went missing during a June operation at Goodlands, and its pages now circulate online.
The pages name suspects, plates, and bank details from live cases. A former police commissioner turns up in them, alongside relatives and serving officers. Three complaints were filed in June, two at Goodlands and one with the CCID, the central crime investigation unit. A video of the pages went up last weekend, came down, then returned Friday.
Once a case file leaks, there is no putting it back.
A young bus conductor is killed in Rodrigues, her partner arrested
Sheila Larose, 26, died at about 2:30 on Saturday morning from deep wounds to her neck. A bus conductor from Roche Bon Dieu, she had gone into intensive care at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Rodrigues, and doctors were arranging to fly her to Mauritius for further treatment.
Police arrested her partner, Alexandre Ravina, 27, on suspicion of the attack. The couple had recently discussed separating, something he reportedly could not accept. The CID in Port-Mathurin is handling the investigation.
A Dubai freeze on a nickel fraud pulls in a Mauritian bank
A Dubai court has extended a freeze on the assets of Indian trader Prateek Gupta and his wife Ginni Gupta until February 2027, and the order names Silver Bank of Mauritius directly. It traces back to Trafigura's London win over an alleged Rs 7.9 billion nickel fraud. Ginni Gupta's move to lift the freeze failed.
The London judgment was the easy part; collecting on it crosses three jurisdictions.

Illegal rubbish dumping now draws a hard line: zero tolerance. The government has launched a national campaign, Zero Depo, to stamp out illegal dumping, with the official kickoff at Bagatelle. Wardens, cameras, and fines should follow. Whether the litter actually stops is the part worth watching.
