Dreamer cannabis trail now leads to a man known as Nishal
The 1.5 tonnes of Thai cannabis that came ashore on the Dreamer is still missing, and detectives now believe it has already reached dealers across the island. The Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit has pulled in an 18th suspect and is chasing a Mauritian who also holds British nationality, a man known as Nishal, whom it suspects both financed and dispatched the shipment.
They know him well. Back in 2012 the drug squad caught him in a controlled delivery sting on the England to Thailand to Mauritius route.
Public debt clears Rs 700 billion even as the ratio eases
Mauritius now owes Rs 700.61 billion, past the symbolic Rs 700 billion mark as of September, after the pile grew by Rs 17.23 billion in a single quarter.
Set against the size of the economy, the burden actually eases to 81.9% of GDP. Before anyone exhales, that improvement comes from revaluing how large the economy is, not from paying anything back. In rupees owed, the line keeps heading up. The real figure still climbs.
Teachers accuse a new head of running their school by fear

In letters they describe bullying, nepotism and false accusations against part of the teaching body, plus attempts to turn colleagues on each other. They want an inquiry. And the head gone.
La Preneuse sea wall ruled above board after an MP's questions

Residents had feared the build was quietly redrawing their access to the beach, for now the paperwork at least checks out.
